Our Curriculum
Kinder Preschools follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework and acknowledges that children learn best through play and exploration. We understand that offering childcare which balances child-led activities with adult-led activities is crucial in order to provide a varied curriculum; which in turn helps support children to reach their full potential.
The learning and development offered at Kinder Preschools covers the 7 key areas of learning within the EYFS framework:
- Personal, social and emotional development.
- Communication and language.
- Physical development.
- Literacy.
- Mathematics.
- Understanding the world.
- Expressive arts and design.
As part of your child’s personal, social and emotional development we make it a priority that they develop an awareness of their own and other children’s feelings – better preparing them for school (and indeed the wider world!).
Our Approach
Children also need to be able to express themselves as well as listen so communication and language development is really important.
If you’re reading this, you will already have a little one and know how physically active they like to be. We help them understand why it is important for them to be physically active and have a healthy diet now and in to the future.
We encourage children to have a positive approach to all types of learning including literacy, maths and expressive arts and design. We understand that being generally curious about the world around them is essential to this but that they also need to be provided with the confidence to do this. Here at Kinder Preschools our staff, as well as our environment, create the conditions to allow this development to occur and for your child to thrive both during their time with us and beyond!
Key Person
Your child will be assigned a key person – this is the designated member of our team that will help your child settle in and will then be responsible for ensuring that the care your child receives meets all of their needs.
Your child’s key person will use their skills to observe how your child learns and plays and be responsible for planning further ways to support your child’s growth and development which is tailored to your child’s interests and needs.
Settling in
As per all initial settling in sessions you will be required to stay with your child for its duration (1-1.5 hours). There is no charge or fee attached to this session.
At this session you will meet your child’s key person and spend some time going over some key background information about your child, allowing us to get to know you and them better.
Your child will then have time to mingle with other children, meet other staff and engage in the activities that are on offer. After the 1-1.5 hours, we will say bye to you both and be ready to welcome you back the next time your child is due to attend Kinder Preschools as per your requested booking pattern.
If you and your key person decide that having you present the next day is necessary for an easier transition, then we can arrange this. Otherwise, if you feel confident that your child is fine, then we’re happy for you to drop them off and then collect them at the end of their next booked session.
